Not For Profit Puts Spotlight on Critical Information - In Its 6th Year!

Spotlight on Hope is a newly created not for profit 501 (c ) (3) founded to use the creative arts to promote critical health, medical, behavioral health and social information. Through the use of music, art, photography, dance, word, theater, film, television and radio, Spotlight on Hope presents vital information in new and more imaginative ways.

Founder, Tom McNulty has more than twenty-five years in healthcare, behavioral health and a variety of medical and wellness management experiences. He is president of Success Stories, Inc. - a healthcare management and marketing consulting firm he started in 1990. His creative background includes hosting more than 700 health talk radio programs in western New York, including Spotlight on Health, currently airing on Regent Communications WJYE-FM 96.1 and co-producing three television specials on behavioral health. He is an avid photographer and is co-writing a screenplay titled, Episodes. Along with radio producer, Bob Hill, he is working on a project that showcases the best and brightest our region has to offer in the fields of medicine, law, architecture, biological sciences, entertainment, sports and more. The copyrighted program, Masters of Inspiration: Great People Doing Great Things has been well received and is securing corporate sponsors.

Spotlight on Hope's vision is to help reinvent how artists use their craft while helping healthcare; behavioral health and social organizations present critical materials in more imaginative ways.We understand the importance of creating impact and meaningful value when important information must reach a targeted audience. The reality of our world mandates that we constantly evaluate our tools, technology, and effectiveness in reaching new generations. We are a hurried society that expects information in a technologically advanced format and that format must be stimulating and strike a cord for action. The best proof is the rapid expansion and success of the Internet, DVDs, cell phones, I-Pods, and all that comes with it in music, radio, television, theater and much more, stated Nancy E. McNulty, executive director of Spotlight on Hope.

Spotlight on Hope has developed several programs, in addition to adopting Spotlight on Health. Mind Matters, a behavioral health talk radio program, is designed to support the continuing challenge of stigma associated with mental illness. The program will feature area experts in the field of behavioral health and support the efforts of The Mind Matters directory of resources produced by the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Music Memories is an educational project that combines music and film to document the impact of music on memory. It is also designed to honor a generation full of beautiful memories. Women's Words is a theatrical presentation that combines music, photography, word and film to educate new audiences about the impact of domestic violence. Both Music Memories and Women's Words are projects involving co-collaboration with clinical social worker and recording artist, Barbara Levy Daniels.

Along with actor, director, producer and writer, Peter Herstgaard, Spotlight on Hope has created a theatrical performance titled, Spotlight on Children. The performance addresses the critical management of violent information such as suicide, incest, bullying, war, and impending threats of security. The project follows the life of a family with elementary, middle and high school children and the use of a Tavistock-style of guidance toward new skill sets. "Our children used to think of colors and relate them to crayons, now colors are used to alert us to levels of security threats. Children suffer from separation anxiety when they hear on the news of tragedies in the workplace. Friends whisper secrets and ask that their friends tell no one about what happens at home. Violence in schools is met with more security cameras, police and metal detectors. Our program is about building skill sets in the children so they may respond in healthy and safe fashions," McNulty stated.

Spotlight on Hope is interested in connecting with local artists and that's why it is a member of the Arts Council in Buffalo and Erie County. It has several other projects in the works and is looking for sponsors for its programs. For more information, contact Nancy E. McNulty at (716) 662-4517 or visit: www.spotlightonhope.org.
